Engineer Girl is an excellent engineering site geared specifically toward girls and is run by the National Academy of Engineering. It offers information on why one should become an engineer, and provides fun facts, great achievements, and interesting links. It also offers a section to ask questions of engineers as well as sections offering information about education and careers. This site is not to be missed.

Building Big:
Building Big is an excellent site for K-12 teachers where the visitor gets to explore various principles involved with building structures. It offers flash animations to better explain shapes, materials, forces, and loads. Engineering challenges are posed, which ask the visitor to make structural choices that involve the building of bridges, skyscrapers, dams, domes, and tunnels. The site also offers information about the engineering profession, a Wonders of the World Databank, and an Educator's Guide that offers suggestions on how to best use the site to help students learn engineering and physics principles.

MentorNet is an excellent site for college women because it initiates e-mail relationships between college women studying science or engineering and practitioners in these fields. This allows students to become more acclimated to the industry, to understand varying aspects of the field and to ask questions and receive advice.
